2 Corinthians 6:1-2
“As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain. For he says, ‘At an acceptable time I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have helped you.’ See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation.”
Woo hoo, God listens and God helps! That is the good news of our salvation. Has anyone ever asked you, “When were you saved?” Some of us can name a date when we recognized our salvation. Some of us always have known that we were God’s beloved children. Either way, it is easy to “accept the grace of God in vain;” in other words, to forget that God’s grace is a gift that is neither given to us nor withheld from us because of anything we have done or not done.
The grace of God is that our day of salvation came long before we recognized or claimed it. Every day gives us opportunities to see God’s salvation at work in us, claiming us as God’s own. God is always present to help us in our personal lives and our life in the world. Even now God is listening to you, caring for you, providing for you, and loving you. Open your heart to this time with God. Woo hoo, God listens and God helps!
Prayer: God, I’m listening. God, you’re my helper. Thank you for working in my life to guide me in your way. Amen.
